- Played basketball at Wake Forest from 1958–1961
- Twice a member of ACC All-Academic team
- Men’s basketball coach at Guilford College from 1964–1971
- Coached ABA Carolina Cougars during 1970–1971 season; later director of player personnel for that club
- Became head coach at High Point in 1972
- As of 2022, he remained the winningest basketball coach at High Point (495)
- Guided his High Point teams to eight conference titles
- Inducted into five Halls of Fame, including the NAIA
