- High school coach and athletic director.
- 1933 graduate and star athlete of High Point College graduate
- Coached briefly at Kernersville High School before moving to High Point High School
- Coached basketball, football, baseball, golf, and track at High Point High from 1936-1968.
- Led basketball team to state titles in 1943, 1948, and 1950
- State runners-up in basketball in 1949 and in football in 1945 and 1951
- Coached North Carolina to victory over South Carolina in 1949 Shrine Bowl football game
- Helped establish N.C. State High School Coaches Association, serving as president in 1951
- Served as athletic director of High Point City Schools from 1968–1976
- Member N.C. High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame
