- Led NC State to ACC swimming team titles in 1966, 1967 and 1968
- Won nine individual ACC titles
- Captured 1966 AAU title in 100-yard freestyle
- Won gold medals at 1968 Olympics in 4×100-meter freestyle relay and 4×200-meter freestyle relay
