  • Played for AAFC New York Yankees in 1946
  • Named All-League in 1938 and 1940
  • Honored as NFL MVP in 1940
  • Passed for 4,701 yards in pro career
  • Coached Duke baseball team into 1953, taking the team to College World Series in 1961
  • Assistant football coach at Duke and player-manager of Durham Bulls
  • Member of National Football Foundation Hall of Fame and Pro Football Hall of Fame
  • Died in 2013
