- Basketball coach at Campbell from 1953–1969 and athletic director from 1961-1969
- Compiled record of 221-104
- Won five state junior college titles with Campbell and presided over its transition to four-year school
- Started Campbell Basketball Camp, one of the first summer basketball camps
- Invented McCall’s Basketball Rebounder, a popular rebounding machine
- Served as infantry officer in Pacific theater during World War II
