- Played football and baseball for Hillside High School and for North Carolina College at Durham (now North Carolina Central University)
- Coached at a variety of high schools before returning to Hillside in 1963
- Bradshaw was president of both the North Carolina High School Athletic Directors Association and the North Carolina Coaches Association
