- Coached University of North Carolina to national prominence in the women’s basketball ranks
- Led the Tar Heels to a win over Louisiana Tech in the 1994 national championship
- Three-time National Coach of the Year
- Captured national championships at the AIAW, NAIA, and NCAA levels
- Earned first two titles at Francis Marion (which changed classifications while she was there) and preceded her arrival in Chapel Hill in 1986
- Inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004
