- Left coaching to become the first full-time administrator of N.C. High School Athletic Association, a position he held until retirement in 1966
- Officiated college football games, including Cotton, Orange, Sugar, and Gator Bowls
- Member of N.C. High School Athletic Association Hall of Fame
