- Took over as athletic director at UNC Charlotte in 1990
- Became just the third female to serve as athletic director of an NCAA Division I program
- In 1999–2000, became the first female to serve on the prestigious NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee
- Helped UNC Charlotte with the growth of its athletic department, culminating in the unveiling of its football program in 2013
