  • Worked hard in weight room at college and developed into potent defensive end
  • Named All-CIAA in 1963 and 1964
  • Selected in 11th round of 1965 NFL draft by Dallas Cowboys and surprised observers by making team
  • Became starter at defensive tackle for Dallas’s famous “doomsday defense” 
  • Started for Dallas in Super Bowls V, VI, X, and XII
  • On roster for Super Bowl XIII but did not play because of an injury that forced retirement after the 1978 season
  • Played in 23 NFL playoff games
