  • Native of Florida and attended Rockingham High School
  • Multisport athlete at NC State from 1924–1928
  • Best known as school’s first All-American football player as a running back
  • Led State to 9-1 mark and a SC title in 1927
  • Captain of basketball team in 1928
  • Ran track and played baseball, winning 16 letters at State
  • Coached football and basketball at Asheville High School for three seasons before becoming athletic director at Rollins College
  • Member National Football Foundation Hall of Fame
  • Died in 1969
