- Born in 1906
- Native of Florida and attended Rockingham High School
- Multisport athlete at NC State from 1924–1928
- Best known as school’s first All-American football player as a running back
- Led State to 9-1 mark and a SC title in 1927
- Captain of basketball team in 1928
- Ran track and played baseball, winning 16 letters at State
- Coached football and basketball at Asheville High School for three seasons before becoming athletic director at Rollins College
- Member National Football Foundation Hall of Fame
- Died in 1969
