- Moved to Winston-Salem in 1966 to begin broadcasting minor league baseball and Winston-Salem State football
- Became the “Voice of the Deacons” at Wake Forest University in 1972 where for decades he delighted with his fair yet passionate calls
- Twice named N.C. Sportscaster of the Year
- Inducted into the Wake Forest Sports Hall of Fame in 1988
- Died in 1989
