- Named the conference’s Player of the Year in 1969 + 1970
- Rushed for 1,720 yards for the Tar Heels as a senior, breaking the NCAA single-season record
- Led the nation in all-purpose running, touchdowns, and points
- Became the first ACC running back to be named a consensus All-America
- Enjoyed an 11-year NFL career with the Baltimore Colts
- Member of the College Football Hall of Fame
