- After working his way through the ranks, earned his first of 32 NASCAR Cup Series victories in August 1991 at Michigan International Speedway in a car owned by the famed Wood Brothers
- Won the season-long points championship in 1999
- Took the checkered flag at the Daytona 500 three times: 1993, 1996, 2000
