- Played football, baseball, and basketball at NC State and professionally
- Led Southern Conference basketball in scoring while at State in both 1936 and 1937
- Played for the National Basketball League’s Oshkosh All-Stars in the 1940s
- Played eight seasons in NFL, five with the Chicago Bears
- Helped Chicago win 1943 and 1946 NFL titles
- Caught 45 passes in NFL career
- Played minor league baseball for several years
- Retired to Fayetteville, where he died in 1980
