  • Multisport star at Orange (NJ) High School and Morgan State College
  • Basketball coach at North Carolina A&T from 1954–1972
  • All-CIAA running back and basketball captain at Morgan State
  • Played semipro basketball and Negro League baseball
  • Coached briefly at Johnson C. Smith and Winston-Salem Atkins before becoming head coach at North Carolina A&T
  • Compiled a 401-132 record
  • Teams captured 1958, 1959, 1962, 1964, and 1967 CIAA titles and 1972 MEAC crown
  • Finished third in the 1959 and 1964 NAIA Tournaments
  • Served as athletic director at A&T from 1973–1980
  • Author of three books on basketball techniques
  • Member of CIAA Hall of Fame
  • Brother Monte is member of Baseball Hall of Fame
