- Native of Wallace, NC
- One of the best basketball players in Guilford College history
- His No. 30 jersey was retired in 1979
- As a senior all-America forward in 1973, he averaged 18.4 points and 12.5 rebounds
- Led the Quakers to a 29-5 record and the NAIA title in 1973
- A pro for more than a decade, most notably for Detroit and Boston, he was a key contributor to the Celtics’ NBA title teams in 1981 and 1984
- Selected to the NAIA Hall of Fame and the Guilford College Athletics Hall of Fame
